SIKH FIGHT BACK

Dear Readers,
This goes to all the readers who deep inside have this feeling of pain of being laughed at, made jokes, and made uncomfortable at public places.
I would like start by applauding the protestors for finally awakening and taking some action on the matter where an image of a Sikh was being projected in such a disgrace manner, targeting and portraying a particular community in a not so comfortable position.
It has been some time now that big and responsible mediums that make a huge impact on various masses throughout the country have been regularly portraying and in a way targeting a wrong image of the Sikh community. Be it a serial, a advertisement on Television and movies in a theater have not spared us in anyway, irrespective of whatever is written before a start of serial or movie. It is getting out of hands and over limits, I guess this kind of defense was coming. The attack on “MTv” office, who being such a wonderful medium to spread all kind of awareness to huge masses especially the youth had been using the Sikh community to project/target in a very wrong and compromising way. The rights of which no one can have to any community. MTv being a responsible medium should understand that everything shown on their channel will have its ripples and portraying / targeting the Sikh community especially is not the way. In this very way we have “ Channel V “ another high impacting medium uses cartoons on Sikh’s, putting the individual of a Sikh community in a very uncomfortable situation. We have Hindi cinemas, which have constantly targeted the Sikh community portraying them in a very uncomfortable, compromising situation. Seeing the Hindi cinemas, other regional languages cinemas have taken this act by taking Sikh community and portraying them in a more shameful manner. Are these mediums not aware of what they are doing ? are they not aware the ripples they are creating, the backlash it generates on many Sikh’s.
Where is this misguiding identity of ours leading other community to think of us, are we being targeted again?. It was sometime back in Punjab that terrioisim had a huge impact and the after effect of it are still felt by the community. Now, after we have managed to get our self out of it, we are again being dragged / targeted in a different and more lethal way. This has resulted in a way that our children have been targeted in schools, colleges which is harming/disturbing their minds, Sikhs are now trimming their beard, cutting their hair all cause of this treatment received from the society which has been misguided, by the projected image shown by various mediums. What harm have we done to other community. There are so many who enjoy our culture, so many who enjoy our music, our kind of food, lifestyle and much more, but when it comes to respect, there is a compromise on it. Actor Akash.Kumar has a huge fan following and his work is appreciated also, but is he so ignorant that when he acts out a particular character representing a particular community in a shameful and funny way, will not hurt the sentiments of the community. Does he not read the script, does he not know what he has to act as, does he not have the intellect to think all this or he like most other actors get blinded to the money they get paid ?. The matter of fact is that he and everyone know what roles they are playing, they know they play a role of a Sikh in such a way that the image it will portray will be off a funny in way to most of the people but at the same time it does bring the Sikh community to a very un-wanting uncomfortable and compromising situation.

We as a community, have borne the brunt of so many injustice, so many criticizes for so many years now that now it is time to stand up and take no more of this nonsense, we should use the incidence of the film of Sikh Is King, the attack on Mtv office as a platform to warm that now enough is enough, we being minority, will no longer take this wrong portrayal of our community anymore, we will not let our children be harresd, made fun off. We are not ready to be put in a uncomfortable situation. Request you to come join in one and all, in every way possible take action, if SGPC, human rights, people in power are not interested to address this problem or take part then let us take action in what ever way possible to get rid of this way of treatment. It’s a virus which we now have to quartine and delete it forever.
